Refund & Cancellation
This page explains how to cancel a Saalis plan, your EU right of withdrawal, and when refunds apply. Payments are handled by our Merchant of Record, Polar, so some steps happen through them.
01Starting on Free
Every account starts on the Free tier: no card, no expiry, three listings per calendar month. There is no trial period, and no paid tier begins by itself. Because nothing is charged until you actively subscribe, an account that has never subscribed has nothing to cancel and nothing to refund.
If you subscribe and later cancel, your account returns to the Free tier and keeps working there.
02Cancelling a paid plan
You can cancel a Pro or Premium subscription at any time from your account or the billing portal (provided by Polar). When you cancel:
- you keep access to your paid features until the end of the current billing period;
- you are not charged again after that;
- your account then returns to the Free tier.
Cancelling stops the next renewal, it doesn't, by itself, refund the current period. Refunds are covered below.
03EU 14-day right of withdrawal
If you're a consumer in the EU or EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a new paid subscription within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason.
Saalis becomes usable the moment you subscribe. EU law lets a trader trade that immediate access for your withdrawal right, but only if you expressly consent to the service starting early and acknowledge that you are giving the right up. We do not ask you for either, and our checkout does not ask you either.
So the right stands, whole. If you withdraw within 14 days of subscribing, we refund the full amount you paid for that period, even if you have already drafted listings with it. You do not have to tell us why.
After those 14 days, the ordinary terms in section 4 apply.
04Other refunds
Outside the withdrawal window, subscriptions are generally non-refundable for time already elapsed, since access was available to you. That said, we're reasonable people running a small studio, if something went genuinely wrong (for example, a billing error, a duplicate charge, or the service was unusable through our fault), contact us and we'll put it right. Statutory consumer rights always apply on top of this policy and are never reduced by it.
05How to request a refund or withdraw
Email support@saalis.app from the address on your account, telling us what you'd like and why. We'll confirm and, where a refund is due, process it back to your original payment method through Polar. Refunds are issued by Polar as Merchant of Record; the time to appear on your statement depends on your bank.
06Business (B2B) customers
The 14-day right of withdrawal is a consumer protection. If you subscribe as a business (for example, using a VAT ID at checkout), that statutory withdrawal right generally does not apply, and the standard cancellation terms in section 2 govern instead. Any goodwill refund is at our discretion.
07Payments provider
Payments, cancellations, and refunds for Saalis are processed by Polar (Polar Software, Inc., 3500 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901, United States) as our Merchant of Record and seller of record. Polar's buyer terms also apply to your purchase; see polar.sh/legal.
08Governing law & disputes
This policy is governed by the laws of Finland, without removing mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. EU consumers can also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
